Sessions

What a session involves.

A simple explanation, a guided practice, and time to ask questions — shaped around the people in the room. Suitable whether you have never meditated or have practised for years.

Nothing to prepare, nothing to believe in advance.

Sessions are practical and plain-spoken. Smriti explains how meditation works and why, leads a short guided practice, and leaves room for questions and discussion. You are welcome to take what is useful and leave the rest.

A single session usually runs around forty-five minutes to an hour, in person or online. Longer workshops and multi-session programmes can be arranged for groups and institutions.

Formats

Three ways to meet.

01

One to one

A quiet conversation and practice for one person — for getting started, or for working through something specific.

02

Groups & communities

A private or public session for a family, a group of friends, a residents' association or a community gathering.

03

Schools & organisations

Sessions for students or for staff wellbeing — schools, colleges and universities, workplaces, healthcare and government institutions.

What to expect

On the day.

  • —Come as you are; wear comfortable clothes
  • —A short talk on how meditation works, in plain language
  • —A guided practice you can repeat on your own afterwards
  • —Time for questions, with no pressure to speak
  • —A simple way to keep going, if you would like to
Smriti Budhia speaking to a seated group in a hall at a retreat centre in New South Wales

A recent programme

A year with a Sudanese women’s group in Australia.

It began with a chance meeting near a retreat centre in New South Wales, and grew from a single day in September 2025 into a year of meditation — in person, then most mornings online. The sessions narrowed over months from a full hour to a well-used half hour, and participants describe being calmer with their children, sleeping better, and less quick to anger.

Cost

Free of charge, and without obligation.

There is no fee for a session — for an individual, a group, a school or an organisation. It is offered as a service. If you would like to give something for a good cause voluntarily, you are welcome to, but it is never expected.

Smriti travels for much of the year, so dates are limited and the calendar fills early. If you have a date or a window in mind, please write well ahead.

How to book

Getting in touch.

Send a note through the contact form, or by email. It helps to include:

  • — whether it is for yourself or a group / institution
  • — rough number of people, and their setting (e.g. students, staff)
  • — where you are, or whether you would prefer to meet online
  • — any dates or timing that would suit

Request a session

Separately

Personal counselling, beyond meditation

If what you are carrying goes further than learning to meditate, Smriti also offers private one-to-one counselling. That is a separate arrangement — a paid personal service, discussed individually. If you think it applies to you, please say so when you write.

A free community service

To arrange a session or a talk — for yourself, a group or an institution — please get in touch.

Offered free of charge, without obligation. Availability is limited, so please write well ahead.
