In their words.
A few reflections from people who have sat with Smriti — in a session, a class, or online. If you would like to add your own, there is a short form below.
After today my anxiety has eased. I have set an alarm every hour as a small reminder to stop, breathe and come back to myself. Such a simple thing, and it helps.
My first meeting with Smriti was life-changing. My life had been full of uncertainty, and I told her everything — my sadness, my tears, my desperation. She acknowledged how hard it was, and encouraged me to start learning, and to keep practising steadily.
The next day we met over Zoom. Within five minutes I had gone from tears to smiling, and from smiling to laughter. With her gentle guided meditation I felt flooded with calm thoughts, and I began to learn how to observe and understand my own mind. She has been my mentor ever since, teaching me new ways to reach my own stillness. I am deeply grateful.
I came to the centre for the first time completely broken — on the first day I could barely see the others through my tears. By the second day something had eased. Her presence and her kindness helped me begin to look at myself more gently.
By the third and fourth days the weight in my chest had started to lift. A week on, I feel steadier and calmer than I have in a long time, I am sleeping better, and I am keeping up the practice every day. I keep finding new meaning in it.
She asked us to write our anger onto a board and then break it. I broke mine from the inside — I felt like screaming with everything I had, and I did, and it felt good. Afterwards the aggression and the frustration felt lighter. I still have work to do; I want my soft, happy self back. I think I will get there.
Today's class was lovely. We talked a lot about our thoughts and she cleared our doubts. During the meditation I felt free of my thoughts, and in that moment I understood something simple: only I can bring about my own happiness.
In today's class I felt so relaxed... I felt a new experience. I just forgive everyone who dumps on me and their painful memories. I also feel peaceful when I ask the Supreme soul about forgiveness, which I can't get from some people. Today is a very peaceful day. Thank you!
When I first started, I was honestly really anxious and got distracted so easily. Even little things would make me angry or stressed. But after a few sessions I started to feel calmer and more relaxed. I've noticed such a difference in how I talk to my kids and handle things in general. Now, even when something goes wrong, I don't stress like before — I just stay calm, breathe, and think positive. It has really changed how I feel every day.
For the last two months I have started meditation and a fitness class. We practise deep breathing exercises, and over time this helps me feel more relaxed and more connected to my inner self. I also learned about the conscious and subconscious mind — how powerful it can be if I reprogramme it with a new habit and a new way of thinking. It takes time and consistency, but small steps every day. I write down my thoughts, goals and fears, and it gives me a clear view of my inner self. That awareness guides me in what I need to change.
I used to be short-tempered and stressed — little things made me very angry, and I would get migraines and stomach aches when I was anxious. I started meditation to manage my anxiety and stress. After following the sessions and practising, especially the practices that quietened my mind, it helped a lot. It reduced my anxiety and increased my awareness. When I go to bed now I use the breathing techniques, which helps me sleep better. I will keep going, to build resilience and clarity.
When I first began meditating I wasn't sure what to expect. My mind was full of thoughts and sitting still felt challenging. But as I focused on my breathing — slowly inhaling and exhaling — I started to feel a gentle calm spreading through my body. The noise in my head began to quieten. It felt like watching clouds pass across the sky — each thought appeared and disappeared without needing my attention. At the end of the session I felt refreshed and balanced, as if I had pressed a reset button for my mind.
