SOS: Stop, Observe, Switch

8 January 2026

As days pass and I'm caught up in work and family pressure, this is the moment my head starts planning a vacation, an outing Or, if there's a little spiritual instinct left in me, a trip to somewhere peaceful. Is that really helpful?

What is my mind actually doing? What does it actually want? Will it really be peaceful or only for a while? Our mind fills up with all these questions. Let's take a pause, and think through the answers.

A journey towards becoming peaceful starts with SOS Stop, Observe, Switch.

The basic step is noticing what I'm thinking right now. What is the speed of my thoughts? What is the quantum of them? Because thoughts are what determine the space your mind lives in.

Take an example with a mind full of racing thoughts. I decide to go on a vacation to a peaceful place — but my mind is still racing when I arrive, because of everything I've carried with me. I feel a little peaceful, from the energy around me, but the unresolved issues are still there. And then I have to ask myself: is this real peace, or a temporary distraction?

If it's real peace, it means I've actually resolved something — I've learned to put a stop to wasteful thoughts. If it's temporary, then it's only the place that's helping me feel calm, for as long as I'm standing in it. The moment I'm back in the world, I'm back with the same thoughts, in the same space.

So what's the solution? Not a better destination — a better practice. Stop. Observe. Switch.
